Traveling Boldly with Purpose

Here at Travel Boldly we encourage people to ... well ... travel boldly but we also want people to travel boldly with purpose.

And now you can tweet with a purpose.

Jeremy Branham of Budget Travel Adventures has started a campaign of his own to aid Passports With Purpose.

From Jeremy's blog post:
"From July 26 through July 31, your tweets and photos with the tags #purpose and #ExpediaFindYours will help raise money for Passports with Purpose.
Here’s how:
For the first 250 tweets with the tags #purpose and #ExpediaFindYours, I will donate $250 to Passports with Purpose which will help change people’s lives. If we reach 750 tweets with the tags #purpose and #ExpediaFindYours, I will donate $500. For 1250 tweets, I will donate $750.
You can raise money for Passports with Purpose just by tweeting photos, telling your stories, and sharing this post with the tags #purpose and #ExpediaFindYours. You will also be entered to win a $250 travel voucher and 4 nights in Aruba from Expedia.
Some background on Passports with Purpose

Passports with Purpose – how travel can change lives

In 2008, Pam Mendel (Nerd’s Eye View), Debbie Dubrow (Delicious Baby), Michelle Duffy (WanderMom), and Beth Whitman (Wanderlust and Lipstick) had an idea to raise money online for the purpose of doing good.  Now travel was ready to make a difference.
Passports with Purpose united a travel community to support various projects like building homes, providing water, and changing lives for people around the world.
By getting travel bloggers, companies, and sponsors involved, people are able to donate money for life-changing projects and win prizes.  Every penny raised goes towards the projects or helps fund prizes.
In 2008, $7,400 was raised for Heifer International.  In 2009, $28,000 was donated to build a school in rural Cambodia.  In 2010, $60,000 helped house 25 families in southern India.  And in 2011, $90,000 helped build two libraries in Zambia.
In 2012, Expedia became a sponsor of Passports with Purpose because they saw the work, dedication, and effort that travelers could make in giving back to others.  As we look ahead to this year, Passports with Purpose hopes to raise even more money to help people.
This year, the ladies at PwP got a chance to go to Zambia to see for themselves how lives are being changed through the work they are doing.  Watch this video to see what they experienced.
